Toll Processing – keeping their powder cool and dry

Increasing numbers of food processors are utilising Hosokawa Micron’s Toll Processing service thanks to the availability of a wide range of size reduction equipment and the milling expertise of Hosokawa engineers, which enables them to meet their development and production challenges.

Explains Kathryn Hipkins, Technical Centre Manager, Hosokawa Micron Ltd: ‘Our FSSC accredited food processing facilities can offer a choice of size reduction technologies and equipment that enable customers to achieve the milled end product they require. We have the options for cold air and cryogenic milling as well as warm air milling, for small or multi-tonne lots and single machine or system solutions that can offer real production benefits.’

Food manufacturers with materials with high fat content, low melting points or difficult to mill products such as chocolate or gelatine may choose cool milling using either air or gas cooled impact milling.

Kathryn added: ‘For processors wanting to keep moisture levels low or to drive away moisture we are able to feed warm, conditioner air into the milling chamber to ensure a dry powder production without the need for a separate drying stage.’

The Toll Processing service from Hosokawa Micron offers facilities a diverse range of powder processing technologies to meet the requirements for one-off projects or ongoing activities. Get in touch to find out more.
