Project Engineer
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the development of our Nuclear Containment team.
Project Engineers are responsible for supporting the delivery of projects including working with Hosokawa’s engineering, manufacturing and procurement teams as well as external suppliers, contractors and clients to help to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within budget and in-line with agreed specifications.
The Nuclear Project Engineer should have a good understanding of the specific requirements for system design and project delivery for Nuclear licensed sites (SLCs) in the Defence and/or Civil Nuclear sectors.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of relevant design, drawing and quality standards.
- Preparation of P&IDs.
- Participate in design reviews & HAZOPs.
- Producing Equipment Procurement Specifications for issue to the Procurement Team.
- Writing of system operating procedures.
- Assisting with the compilation of O&M manuals.
- Review client issued documentation and assist the Project Manager in ensuring critical information is captured and implemented, including ensuring delivered equipment meets all validation requirements and specifications.
- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring equipment is in compliance with the Machinery Directive and other relevant standards including the completion of Risk Assessments.
- Assisting the Project Manager with the specification of components and equipment for integration into the system design and ensuring information is made available to the procurement team by the creation of purchase requisitions and management of Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Co-ordinating with and supporting the Manufacturing/Assembly Teams to ensure equipment is assembled efficiently and any information required is provided.
- Supporting the Project Manager to ensure FAT of equipment and site activities are carried out in accordance with the schedule including productions of FAT/SAT documentation and Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS).
- Feedback of relevant project expenditure and scheduling information to the Project Manager.
- Ensure scope or cost changes are communicated to the Project Manager.
- Ensure relevant internal QMS processes are following correctly.
- Provide feedback on opportunities for Continuous Improvement to the Project Manager/Product Group Manager.
Note: the above list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and involvement in other aspects of work within the Technical Operations groups may be required.
Liaising with customers on design aspects of active contracts. Provide technical guidance and support the Design Engineering team with the development of suitable equipment and system designs.
Experience and qualifications/knowledge/skills
- Degree qualified or a recognised technical qualification in mechanical, electrical or process engineering. Note: Project Engineers without these qualifications will be required to provide evidence of having extensive experience and a proven track record of being instrumental in the delivery of similar projects.
- Experience of working to schedules, cost control and working in multi- disciplinary teams.
- Experience of delivery of projects into the Nuclear industry.
- An understanding of design of equipment for use in hazardous areas (e.g. ATEX) and for compliance with relevant safety and regulatory requirements including the Machinery Directive, CE & UKCA certification would be advantageous.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel & Project.
- Competent in the use of 2D AutoCAD.
